Cabo Pulmo is located in east Baja California Sur, and it’s one of the most impressive attractions in Los Cabos. This National Marine Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site after all, and it boasts one of the most pristine ecosystems in the region.
What’s more, it’s been able to re-establish the marine life that had been driven away as a consequence of over-fishing. Now, it offers fantastic snorkeling opportunities, besides other great outdoor activities.
I highly recommend visiting Cabo Pulmo, I think it’s such an underrated destination in Los Cabos, perfect to escape the crowds. It’s not easy to access the park, though, unless you’re driving a 4WD, so joining an excursion is the most popular way to do it.

We asked our driver to make multiple stops along the way to take photographs, and he happily obliged. I mean, look at this place!
Once in the park, our first stop was Playa Los Arbolitos. We relaxed on this beach with some snacks and then we went snorkeling in the Cabo Pulmo reef.
The day we visited the water was a bit murky, but we still managed to see corals, colorful fish, and a couple of sea turtles. On clearer days, you can even spot stingrays and whale sharks!
One of the things I liked about this tour was that you get to learn from your guide about the creatures that inhabit the area, and the efforts that the local community took to recover it. Our guide was very passionate about it, and it was fascinating to hear him talk.
We then made a few brief stops at the town of Cabo Pulmo to check out the stores and the beach, as well as at the Tropic of Cancer line and a giant cactus tree.
Lastly, we sat down in Miraflores for a local, scrumptious lunch consisting of tacos, guacamole, and salsas.
