Looking for the best restaurants in Montauk? From comfort food to Mexican cuisine, delicious brews and seafood, you’ll find places for every mood. Check them out!
Some of the very best restaurants in the Hamptons are in the lovely village of Montauk. You’ll find plenty to do in Montauk, including surfing, chilling at gorgeous beaches, and eating your way through countless cafes and restaurants.
Here you can (and should!) indulge in both the local specialties (seafood, duh!) and a superb international cuisine, from Mexican to Mediterranean and, of course, American comfort food.
Regardless of how long you’re staying in Montauk, you’ll surely find a new place to enjoy dinner every night. Check out the best Montauk restaurants, and save the list for when you’re there!
The Lobster Roll
The Lobster Roll is probably one of the most acclaimed restaurants in all of Long Island – and my personal favorite on this list.
Also known as LUNCH, this restaurant is right outside Montauk, and has been since the 1950s. While they serve various types of seafood, their indisputable staple is the lobster roll, which you can enjoy either hot or cold.
The Lobster Roll is Mountauk’s (isn’t it the country’s?) favorite summer sandwich, and when I tell you that the location is by the beach and they also have craft cocktails, you’ll know you can’t miss stopping by.
Lobster Roll only opens during the summer season.
Address: 1980 Montauk Highway
Montauk Brewing Company
No list of Montauk best restaurants would be complete without a brewery to order a pint. In fact, Long Island might be mostly known for its vineyards, but they also make good beer!
At Montauk Brewing Company (any of their six locations, actually) you’ll find summer-related craft beers that range from the Wave Chaser IPA to the Summer Ale and Driftwood Ale, as well as some original beer flavors that include pumpkin and watermelon, any of which you can enjoy in the beautiful patio with a bag of pretzels. If you can’t seem to settle for one, try them all in the Tasting Room!
Tasting Room Address: 62 South Erie Avenue
Opening Hours: Saturday & Sunday from 12 PM to 6 PM; Monday, Thursday & Friday opens at 2 PM
At Happy Bowls, you’ll get to build your own bowl. Be it a smoothie, acai, or even a poke bowl, you can choose your favorite ingredients to top it with, and enjoy a delicious, custom-made bowl to take with you to the beach or eat on-site.
If you’re not feeling creative you can get their equally delicious combinations, and take a freshly-squeezed juice with you for the ride.

668 The Gig Shack
668 The Gig Shack Montauk is a family-owned and operated diner with a wide range of dishes at very affordable prices. You can enjoy appetizers and mains, most of which include a type of seafood, and salads.
They have an outdoor seating area on Main Street, so you can people-watch as you sip a mocktail and enjoy a delicious lunch in Montauk, or head there at night for some live music.

Harvest on Fort Pond
One of the best restaurants in Montauk, NY for freshly caught fish is Harvest on Fort Pond. Boasting an Italian cuisine with some twists, and specialized in making family-style meals, this restaurant is nestled on Fort Pond, offering great views of the sunset over it and an outside seating area for alfresco dining.
The Harvest restaurant in Montauk also features a bar and lounge, where you can get craft cocktails and beers, and while you’ll mainly find seafood on the menu, there are also some veggie salads and pizzas, all made with homegrown produce.

Sel Rrose is the quintessential Montauk oyster bar, featuring very stylish décor and a wide bar area where you can get your craft cocktails and as many oysters as you can manage to eat.
Inspired by Rrose Selavy, Marcel Duchamp’s female Alter Ego, both for the name and the style, Sel Rrose is the best restaurant in Montauk for a pre-dinner appetizer and drinks at the bar, or to spend the evening on the comfy couches enjoying the seafood.

The Backyard at Sole East
For Mediterranean cuisine, in a Mediterranean-vibe spectacular garden, head to The Backyard at Sole East to dine by the pool or enjoy the best brunch in Montauk on Sundays.
There is live music most days, and dining alfresco will add to the experience as you enjoy a Greek salad, a burrata or their Mediterranean Plate. If the weather is not as pleasant you can still relish in the food indoors.
The Backyard at Sole East is among the top seafood restaurants in Montauk (don’t they all specialize in fresh catch, though? ‘Tis the town to indulge in it!) and they have a Clam Chowder special, as well as a Raw Bar and poolside menu, although you could also go for a steak or chicken meal.

John’s Pancake House
For a supreme breakfast in Montauk, head to John’s Pancake House. Don’t let the name fool you, though!
While you’ll get perfectly soft pancakes if that’s what you’re craving, your first meal could also consist of an omelet or eggs with bacon, delicious crepes suzette, granola, waffles, or even Montauk’s classic fish-n-chips if that’s your thing!
John’s Pancake House opens very early in the morning, so if you’re up and ready for adventures any time after 6 AM, it’s one of the only places you’ll find open!

La Fin Kitchen & Lounge
La Fin is one of the best places to eat in Montauk if you want spectacular scenery as a backdrop for your meal. Since it’s located right by the water, I highly suggest seating in their terrace to admire the movement in the docks of Montauk Harbor. Their indoor setting, however, is just as beautiful!
Their farm-to-table policy ensures that all ingredients are fresh and locally sourced, allowing them to boast a seasonal produce-based French cuisine.
The menu includes small and large plates which you can choose depending on your hunger level, as well as dishes to share, seafood, and vegetarian options. Snacks and juices are also available, as well as tempting craft cocktails.
La Fin is a seasonal restaurant, and it opens in the spring for the warm season. Check their current opening hours on their website!

Navy Beach Restaurant
Was La Fin not close enough to the beach? Then head to Navy Beach Restaurant, where you’ll actually be eating…on the beach! Its picnic tables are set directly on the sand, so you can bury your feet in it as you enjoy your seafood salad…or seafood dish, small plate or bite; that’s their specialty!
If you’re a large group or are celebrating a special occasion, they also have large-party menus under the names of Mermaid, Pirate, Captain…you get the gist. If you were looking for Montauk restaurants on the water, well, you’ve found the one.
TIP: Go around sunset for an early dinner so you catch the views of the sun disappearing on the horizon. It’s stunning!
