9 BEST Cooking Classes in Sorrento

Sorrento is a beautiful town in Southern Italy, best known for being the gateway to the Amalfi Coast and boasting breathtaking views of the Bay of Naples… but also for its mouthwatering cuisine!

I usually base myself in Sorrento when I visit the Amalfi Coast and Naples region, and trust me – I never have issues finding delicious food in town.

Gnocchi alla Sorrentina, the refreshing Insalata Caprese, and Spaghetti alle Vongole are a few of the local specialties, which will always be followed by a delicious limoncello liqueur.

And while I can’t recommend eating your way through the city enough, I have to admit I’m partial to cooking classes. They’re such a fun activity to enjoy when traveling, and you not only eat spectacularly well, but you get to keep all the recipes so you can keep enjoying Italian food at home!

To help you find the most authentic and fun cooking classes in Sorrento, I created this super detailed post listing the best options in the city. So take a look, pick your favorite, and get ready to become an (almost) Italian chef!

Why should you trust me? I’m Italian, born and raised in Bologna, and have years of experience helping people plan their perfect vacation in Italy. Not only am I familiar with the Sorrentine Peninsula, but I know exactly what a tour should offer to be worthwhile.

And those are the only tours you’ll find in this article, and any other post I write recommending activities in Italy.

I generally use Viator and Get Your Guide to book activities when I travel. I especially recommend them for their great cancelation policy. If your travel plans change, you can cancel most activities up to 24 hours in advance and get a full refund.

OUR PICK: A Sorrento Cooking Class with a View

Discover the secret to Italian cuisine in a beautiful villa with this Sorrento: Cook Like a Local with a Stunning Sea View.

The tour lasts 4 hours, and it takes place in a family kitchen, so you’ll be treated to well-known Italian hospitality and get a glimpse into the authentic lifestyle of the locals.

Start the day sipping on coffee to get to know your teacher and fellow cooks, and get hands-on crafting eggplant Parmesan.

It’s one of the traditional Italian dishes that’s not usually taught in cooking classes, as most of them focus on teaching you how to make pasta. It’s a nice change, which allows you to discover new flavors and authentic recipes beyond the famous ones.

But don’t fret if you were after the pasta, because you’ll get that too! After your fried eggplant, mixed with mozzarella cheese and a rich tomato sauce, is in the oven, you’ll move on to the second dish: homemade gnocchi, made from scratch.

Learn the secret techniques to make sure your gnocchi has the right shape and texture, becoming a culinary success. Finally, prepare a creamy, decadent tiramisu. Is it even an Italian feast if there’s not tiramisu for dessert?

One of the best parts about this cooking class, however, is not the food but the setting: you’ll be cooking on a terrace overlooking the Sorrentine coastline, which only enhances the experience!

Cap off the tour by sitting down for lunch, and enjoying your creations paired with wine and limoncello.

Why is this tour my top choice? Not only you will learn how to cook 3 of the best traditional dishes from Sorrento, but the location of this cooking class is stunning! The class takes place in a villa that is surrounded by lemon and olive trees, and the sea view is unparalleled.
