Bangkok is the bustling, vibrant capital of Thailand, home to some of the most spectacular landmarks in the country that range from ornate temples to modern malls that sell everything, bustling markets, traditional neighborhoods, and lush parks located right in the heart of the city.
My favorite part about Bangkok, however? Its cuisine! In this ever-changing city, you can find traditional Thai food from each region, from the Northern specialties that are only found in the north (and in Bangkok!) to Southern Thailand’s stir-fries, curries, snacks, and salads. It’s a foodie paradise!
And while you can certainly eat your way through the city, there’s a different activity I’d recommend even more: joining a cooking class!

I’m obsessed with cooking classes, and will join one in almost every country I visit, because they’re not only super fun activities that end with a delicious meal, but teach you all the secrets behind Thailand’s most iconic dishes. Imagine going back home after your holiday, and being able to relish green curry for dinner followed by mango sticky rice in your own kitchen… a dream!
In my opinion, it’s one of the (many!) epic things to do in Bangkok, and one you shouldn’t miss.
To help you choose among the best cooking classes in Bangkok, I took it upon myself to select the most astounding, highest-rated experiences. You’ll find them all below, so keep reading!
Why should you trust me? I’ve visited Bangkok many times (I even lived there for a few months!) and I’ve taken many cooking classes around Thailand and in other parts of the world, so I’m very familiar with these types of classes.
Besides, I’ve been in the travel industry for over ten years, curating travel guides and tours to help travelers plan their dream vacations, so identifying extraordinary activities is kind of my thing. Only the very best classes make it to my posts, so you’re in good hands.
I generally use Viator and Get Your Guide to book tours around the world. I especially recommend them for their great cancellation policy. If your travel plans change, you can cancel most activities up to 24 hours in advance and get a full refund.

OUR PICK: The BEST Cooking Class in Bangkok
This hands-on Bangkok: Mango Cooking School Thai Cooking Class is the perfect way to dive into Thai cuisine right in the heart of Bangkok. It’s the cooking class we recently went on, and we absolutely loved it!
We started the tour, which lasted about three hours, with a stroll through a very lively, colorful market full of produce, fragrant spices, ready meals, and the most delicious-looking fruits. Our tour guide led us to a few stalls, collecting a few ingredients for the cooking class while explaining their flavors and uses. It was a really good way to start off the experience!
Afterward, we walked the two-minute distance to the Mango Cooking Class, where we took our spots in a pristine, well-equipped kitchen. There, we put on aprons and followed the chef’s instructions to make five traditional dishes, learning the ingredients we’d need, proper cooking techniques, and professional tips to ensure success – aka, a delicious meal!
We made Som Tum, a papaya green salad as a starter, followed by Tom Yum Goong, a spicy shrimp soup, and Pad Thai as mains, and a delicious Pad Pong Curry, incredibly flavorful. For dessert, we learned all the secrets to prepare an authentic mango sticky rice.
At the end of the class, we sat down to enjoy all our creations, which were on par with the top Thai restaurants, if I may say so myself!
We also took the recipes with us, so I can look back at them to recreate the dishes whenever I’m craving Thai food. We had a blast on this cooking class, and I highly recommend it.
Don’t just take my word for it! Read what other reviews say:
