Please do NOT ride on elephants as they are 'broken' in the most horrific way! And don't go to see the 'long neck' Karen women. It is so damaging to their necks and health and it is now only done for tourists. How awful to know you are encouraging this practice by visiting them. I lived and worked in Thailand for 4 years. It is a fabulous country with delicious food, very friendly people, amazing wildlife and stunning scenery. Enjoy but not at the expense of the animals or hill tribes. Thank you.

Regarding the long-neck women, I have read and informed myself about the issue, and it's definitely not a black or white one, as it usually is with ethical issues. Sure, it's a touristy experience, but the money that these tours generate are keeping these people from being relegated in Burmese refugee camps. I suggest everyone to do their own research before visiting and deciding where they stand.
